Antique Engine & Tractor Show

Some of the coolest contraptions still roaming the earth will be on display next month when the Michigan Flywheeler's Museum throws open the gates onto its colorful Antique Engine & Tractor Show for four great days of fun and action. The amazing array of steam-powered engines, including the one captured in the photo above by my friend Steve Schlutt at last year's show, will fascinate you in ways you never imagined.

The 33rd Annual version of this big show will take place on the Flywheeler's Museum grounds along 68th Street east of South Haven from Thursday, September 8th through Sunday, September 11th.

Patrick Ingalls is the Flywheeler's President and he tells us you can expect to see hundreds of flywheel engines and tractors, enjoy an outdoor flea market, daily parades of steam machines and others including that great contraption in Steve's photo and much more.

Make plans to pack up the entire family for the show at 06285 68th Street in South Haven with crafts, kids' activities, a consignment auction, delicious steamed corn, the Wooden Nickel Gift Shop, the South Haven Tractor Cruise and even John Dudley's Magic Show.

In addition to the parades and flea market there will be demonstrations of blacksmithing, live music performances, tractor pulls, a shingle mill, valve cover races, bingo games, the Kids' Night-time Tractor Cruise, a Thing-a-ma-jig Parade and Old Towne.

The steamed corn is an annual favorite, cooked in the steam produced by a 1923 Nichols & Shephard Steam Engine manufactured in Battle Creek.

The musical line up this year includes Oldies by Joel Coburn, the Michigan Fiddlers, the Casco Community Band, Rock n Roll from Quentin Flagg, Joe Foster and the Bronk Brothers.

Tickets run just $7 per person, with children 12 and younger admitted free with a paid adult admission. Thursday is Seniors Day with admission prices of just $3 for those 62 and over. Rustic camping is available at a rate of $10 per night plus your daily admission fee.
