Horizon Bank continues to expand its horizons…announcing the site of its first full-tilt branch in Grand Rapids at 250 Pearl Street NW, targeted for opening next month. The Michigan City-based bank had previously opened a commercial lending office there four years ago, but now they're ready to go all in for the Furniture City.

David Quade is the bank’s market president for Grand Rapids and he says the launch makes sense because, “This is a strong growth market for the bank, and it helps connect our footprint between Kalamazoo and Lansing. Our goal is to bring community banking back to our market, and to share our exceptional service and sensible advice with the Grand Rapids community.”

Throughout its 143-year history, Horizon Bank has always been committed to giving back to the communities it serves – through volunteer work, financial support, and more.

Quade plans to bring those values to Grand Rapids, by actively seeking insights from those who live and work there today. He says, “I also am going to establish a community bank advisory board that will be led by local business owners, professionals, and community leaders.”

Quade notes, “We’ll get feedback directly from the community on what are the true banking opportunities in Grand Rapids, and we’ll react accordingly.” He adds, “Plus, we’ll be looking for input from our clients to help guide our sponsorships and donations to local community organizations who could benefit from our support.”

Currently, the bank is operating from a temporary location offering commercial and private banking products and services. In February, they will relocate to a new, permanent address at 250 Pearl Street NW, featuring 13,000 square feet of space. Quade notes that the 10-year lease the bank has taken demonstrates its long-term commitment to the community.

Quade anticipates that the new facility will house up to 15 advisors, providing complete financial products and services across retail, commercial, private banking, treasury management and mortgage. To meet these diverse needs with a well-rounded approach, he says, “We’re building the best team possible.” In fact, all team members who will be joining Quade in Grand Rapids, have extensive experience in banking in West Michigan.

Now that experience will be used to serve the people of Grand Rapids. And Quade believes it’s a great fit.
