Members of the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail have installed a new organizational President for 2017, but he's backed up by veterans in two other key posts as well as their first ever association executive, Kathryn Sturm. Third generation wine maker Tony Peterson, the owner of Contessa Cellars just off of I-94 in Coloma will serve as the association's President for a one-year term that began on January 1st.

Meanwhile, Peterson's contemporary from the Paw Paw Lake neighborhood, Joe Herman of Karma Vista Vineyard & Winery on the opposite side of I-94, has been re-elected as the Lake Michigan Shore Wine Trail Treasurer — a post that he has held since the trail first emerged onto the scene 15 years ago in 2002. Additionally, the membership re-elected Scott Soethe of Lemon Creek Winery of Berrien Springs to continue in the role of recording secretary.

Tony Peterson perfected his craft while working as an apprentice in the family winery. He has served as past-president and continues to work to support the mission of the Wine Trail.

Board members also thanked outgoing President Chris Moersch, owner of Round Barn Winery, Brewery & Distillery in Baroda, for his service at the helm in 2016 which was also the year that the crew added paid staff for the first time in the 15-year history of its existence, as well as his continued work on the annual Lake Michigan Shore Wine Festival held on the third Saturday of June each year at Weko Beach in Bridgman.
