Luminary Magic on Friday Night

3669574

Every year just ahead of Thanksgiving, downtown St. Joseph is transformed into a remarkable holiday wonderland with the look and feel of a small New England seaboard town harkening back to a Victorian era thanks to the warm, flickering glow of hundreds of luminary candles strategically placed along the brick-lined streets of the central business district, heralding the holiday season in a manner most communities can only dream about.

This Friday night, November 18th, from dusk until 9pm, local residents and visitors alike will take to the streetscape of State Street and neighboring blocks for the joyful atmosphere, refreshments, special pricing and gift ideas from participating restaurants and shopkeepers of all sorts. All accompanied by the luminaries from one end of the district to the other.

Susan Mason is owner of Friends by Design, a women's boutique. She says, “There are so many reasons why we all love living in Southwest Michigan but one of my favorites is St. Joseph’s Annual Luminary Event. It is such a special evening when families come downtown to share in what makes this city so unique.” She adds, “Whether it is a cup of hot chocolate, a sweet treat or a glass of wine, everyone enjoys walking around downtown, catching up with friends and seeing the beautiful lights. Great way to start the holiday festivities!”
