Recycling Events at Hand

You have several opportunities to help Mother Earth in the coming week, beginning with a recycling event tomorrow at Silver Beach and again on the Berrien Springs Campus of Andrews University next Wednesday. Both are open to the public, but only the Andrews event will be accepting items from the business community. The Silver Beach event is not equipped to handle business recycling at this time.

Tomorrow's event, Saturday, September 24, 2016, will take place from 9am until 1pm at Silver Beach County Park below the bluff in St. Joseph at 101 Broad Street. That event, coordinated by the Berrien County Parks Department, is for Berrien County residents only, and cannot accept business waste.

The targeted items for recall in this session include household chemicals and electronics, however all of the following will be accepted at the park:

  • Unwanted home, garden, yard, garage & workshop chemicals, liquids and cleaners that are poisonous, toxic, flammable or hazardous, such as oil-based paints, stains, paint thinners/strippers, varnish, mineral spirits, turpentine, spray paint, automotive liquids and the like…

  • Batteries of all kinds and sizes…
