Robotic Farm is Packing in the Tours

Last summer I told you the amazing story of Bill Shuler and his family in the Baroda neighborhood. His G. C. Shuler & Sons Dairy Farm was brand new at the time and he was busy crafting a dream to welcome agri-tourists to visit and enjoy some of the freshest ice cream known to man. Well, his dream has come true and then some, and you’re invited to try that special ice cream.

The story of G. C. Shuler & Sons Dairy Farm and his revolutionary robotic milking machines and high-tech barn system is rapidly spreading worldwide. At the recent World Dairy Expo in Wisconsin, a colorful video story was on display in front of more than 180,000 fellow dairymen and women and other industry vendors who were equally astounded by the Shuler story and his rapid rate of success. We told that story to you back in June and you can see what we told you by clicking this link right now:

Top dairy execs from coast-to-coast and more than 140 global nations now know the Shuler story and they’ve been making trips to his farm at 10823 Date Road outside of Baroda to see his innovations first-hand. The largest dairy producer in America and the largest dairy producer in British Columbia have both paid visits to Baroda in the last week, ready to adopt his core concepts and take them to an even larger scale in their own bases of operations.

Inasmuch as there is nothing like what Bill and his sons Billy and Wyatt are doing here in Michigan’s Great Southwest anywhere else in the world, dairymen are eager to adapt to his design concepts and are turning G. C. Shuler & Sons into a veritable Mecca for people to learn and take those concepts home to be pressed into action elsewhere across the country.

The high-tech dairy farm has already seen visits from Argentina, Vietnam, British Columbia and multiple states across the nation.

Perhaps equally as important is the dream of hand-crafting ice cream treats on site for immediate serving to families and their children is striking a huge chord with families from our own region and into Illinois and Indiana who stream to the farm every weekend. The dairy farm has been hosting and is willing to host all sorts of on site groups and events including school tours, car shows like the antique car show coming this weekend, and even winery touring companies are making intermediate stops for fresh ice cream while fans are on wine touring trips.

The G. C. Shuler Dairy Barn not only showcase the robotic technology, innovative practices and new baby calves being born in the barns, they are also serving up chocolate, vanilla and combination swirls of soft-service ice cream created right on premise along with fresh hot funnel cakes and other treats like blizzard-style ice cream novelties. Farm tours can be scheduled at any time every Tuesday through Sunday from 1pm until 7pm, and they can make special arrangements for morning school tours if desired.

The two sprawling major dairy barns sit side-by-side and Bill loves to showcase how well cared for and contented his cows are. He’s been a lifelong dairyman himself, having been invited as the 4-H Dairy Award Winner for the state of Michigan in 1972 to appear on Orion Samuelson’s live television broadcast on WGN Television in Chicago. Ironically, he just met Samuelson again last week at the World Dairy Expo and invited him to visit Baroda to see his innovative facilities.

Make plans to visit the dairy barns on Date Road soon with your entire family for some of the freshest ice cream on earth. You can arrange a special tour for larger groups by calling Bill Shuler at 269-326-0366. He’d love to show you everything in sight.
