The generally preferred color in the stands of Al Stockman Stadium at Lakeshore High School is Lancer Red. Even hardcore Lancer fans will likely set aside the red in favor of the green and white of Michigan State University before heading to the stadium next Saturday morning to get a sneak preview of the Spartan Marching Band's half-time show later that day at Notre Dame.

Spartan fans get a unique and free opportunity to see a Southwest Michigan exclusive performance by "the finest band in the land" when they stop off at Lakeshore High School on their way to the Notre Dame game on Saturday, September 17th at 10am.

Brad Brunner is Principal at Lakeshore High, and he says, "We're looking forward to getting fired up for the game with a sneak peek of the band's halftime show and a run-through of their one-of-a-kind pre-game entrance."

The performance is open and free to the public, organized by the Berrien County MSU Alumni Chapter in conjunction with Lakeshore Public Schools, and sponsored by the Lakeshore Excellence Foundation. Concessions will be available, with all proceeds supporting the Lakeshore Lancers High School Band.

Tom Watson is a Berrien County MSU Alumni Chapter member. He says, "As a former MSU trombone player, the dedication and discipline of band members, precision movements, pageantry and thrill that are trademarks of the Spartan Marching Band never change, and present a rare and unique opportunity for all of Southwestern Michigan to see and hear one of the premier collegiate bands in the land."

The Spartan Marching Band was founded in 1870, and is one of the oldest and most recognized university marching bands in the world. The band has played for five U.S. Presidents and performed at five Rose Bowls, two World's Fairs, and one World Series.

So lay out your finest Spartan gear and make plans to welcome the band with a rousing full house crowd at Al Stockman Stadium located on Cleveland Avenue, immediately adjacent to Lakeshore High School in Stevensville.
