Welders in High Demand in SWM

We hear all the time about skilled trades jobs going unfilled for manufacturers in Michigan's Great Southwest and elsewhere in the state and nation. Fortunately Lake Michigan College is continually striving to fill the gaps through skills training including a new five-week course for prospective welders in the new year.

Lake Michigan College's five-week MIG/TIG Welding course will help prepare students to apply for many local skilled manufacturing jobs, where welders are in high demand. LMC's hands-on classes cover various gas metal arc welding (MIG) processes, including solid wire, and flux-core with emphasis on metal inert gas welding, as well as providing entry level experience in gas tungsten arc welding, also known as TIG welding.

Classes from Lake Michigan College are slated for Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 4pm until 8pm at the Allegan Tech Center located at 2891 116th Avenue. Cost of the course is $359.00 and it will run from January 24th through February 23rd in 2017.

If you are interested in the welding training, you are strongly encouraged to register no later than January 18, 2017 at the link listed below, or you can call 269-927-4851 with questions you might have. A complete list of LMC's short-term training offerings is available at www.lakemichigancollege.edu/wti.
