Some of the streets of Portage, Michigan are considerably nicer places now thanks to the crew at Abonmarche Consultants headquartered in downtown Benton Harbor, and they’ve been recognized by their peers as a result.
Abonmarche was presented a Surveying Merit Award during the American Council of Engineering Companies of Michigan (ACEC/M) Engineering and Surveying Excellence Awards ceremony last weekend on Saturday, March 10th. The ceremony honors firms for engineering and surveying excellence.
The award was in recognition of Abonmarche’s work on the City of Portage’s “Natural Place to Move” initiative. The project included improvements to 6.34 miles of local neighborhood streets.
Portage had a narrow time frame for completion of the projects. To accommodate that tight time frame, the team at Abonmarche employed the use of a UVA, or drone, to capture survey data which included physical features of the area. By utilizing that unique approach, Abonmarche delivered high-resolution photographs of the pre-construction conditions instrumental for project design and plan development in a fast and cost-effective way.
