Armed Gunmen Attack Shell Station in South Haven

The threat of rush hour traffic on a rainy, foggy, Monday morning didn’t seem to dampen the desires of a couple of armed robbers who attacked a Shell gasoline service station in the city of South Haven early today. South Haven City Police are asking for the public’s help in identifying the two armed gunmen who robbed the station at the corner of Broadway and Superior Streets in the city just after 7 o’clock this morning.

South Haven Police Chief Natalie Thompson has issued a call for help from the public to put the finger on the two gunmen. The first of the robbers is identified by police as “A light-complected black male, wearing dark colored jeans and a black hoodie sweatshirt.” Police say he covered a portion of his face with what appeared to be a dark blue handkerchief. He is estimated to be 5-foot-10 to 6-feet tall with a stocky build, and “described as having a big nose.” Police estimate he ranges from 30 to 40 years of age, and was armed with a two-tone semi-automatic handgun.

The second suspect in the case is described by police as, “A light-complected black male, also wearing dark colored jeans and a black jacket with a white hood.” The second gunman apparently covered his face with a Spiderman mask. He is estimated to range from 5-foot-10 to 6 feet tall with a stocky build, and his approximate age is his early 30s. He was armed with a silver semi-automatic handgun.

The two escaped the Shell station with an undetermined amount of cash, and anyone with information on the case is urged to contact the South Haven Police Department at 269-637-5151.
