The fall season in Michigan’s Great Southwest is well known for its amazing palette of rich colors and amazing aromas, and you can count on the New Territory Arts Association to bring the spirit of autumn to its full range of senses when they host their next Art Hop this weekend.

The New Territory Arts Association is hosting its own twist on fall color tours during its Fall Art Hop, this Friday, October 20th, from 6-to-9pm, in the Benton Harbor Arts District. The rain-or-shine event features multiple venues in downtown Benton Harbor, near Water, 5th, and Main Streets and Territorial Road. Visitors can take in colorful art, music, dance, wine, beer and food while walking through the eclectic neighborhood.

Here are some of the highlights you’ll find at this year’s Fall Art Hop:

  • 3 Pillars Music at 198 Water Street will host an outdoor live show by The Rain Dogs who will perform their dynamic original music based on rock, rockabilly, swing and indie-pop roots. Visitors are encouraged to stop inside to find their favorite musical instruments, amps and turntables plus the area’s best selection of pre-loved classic rock CDs and vinyl LPs, 45s and 78s.
  • Artists at 210 Water will open their studios to showcase their art exhibits.
  • ARS Gallery, Arts & Culture Center, at 147 5th Street, will feature the textile and pillow art of Cara Garnett, paintings by Mary Broccolo Derr, jewelry by Transmutes, “The Space Between” exhibit by Matt Kasewurm and colorful macarons by Bistro on the Boulevard’s pastry chef Mandy Krause.
  • Benton Harbor Public Library at 213 E. Wall Street will display works by local artists.
  • The Citadel Dance & Music Center at 204 Water Street will welcome visitors to their open studios, with live music performances, wine and fall treats.
  • The Collective Yoga Studio and Rebel Café located at 234 Territorial Road will kick off its indoor organic farmers and artisans market. Guests can buy local organic produce, grass fed meats from Primal Roots Sustainable Farms, locally roasted Dwellers coffee and much more.
  • The Livery at 190 5th Street will serve its hand-forged micro-brews and locally sourced foods until 1 am. Art Hoppers can close out the evening with a free concert at 9 pm featuring Waterfall Wash, a quirky mesh of indie rock and pop-punk that creates a colorful sonic landscape. Animal Aid of Southwest Michigan will have dogs available for adoption in the Livery beer garden and kittens at 210 Water Street.
  • OutCenter at 132 Water Street will host “A Journey, Past to Present” by Clement Teo. Born in Kuching, Malaysia, Teo’s work is influenced by his native country’s tribal art.
  • Phoenix Rising at 124 Water Street will host its Farewell to the Arts District Garage Sale. Art Hoppers can purchase random remnants from the café.
  • Water Street Glassworks at 140 Water Street will have a “glow-in-the-dark pumpkin patch” of colorful blown glass pumpkins available for purchase in the Dorris Akers Gallery and demos showing how the glass pumpkins are made.
