Chicago Golf Fans Get First Ever Amtrak Run to KitchenAid SRPGA Championship

Ryan Ogle continues to work around the clock with his team from the PGA of America to put their stamp of innovation on the 2018 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship coming next month to the golf club at Harbor Shores.

In a great new breakthrough to attract additional golf fans from the Chicagoland area, and for the first time ever, The PGA of America is partnering with the Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) and Amtrak to offer roundtrip train tickets to Benton Harbor for fans to enjoy the 79th KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship on Saturday, May 26.

Chicago area golf fans are being encouraged to act quickly to take advantage of a day of family fun at the 2018  Championship – the most prestigious major championship in all of senior golf.

Championship Director Ryan Ogle says, “With a round-trip Amtrak ticket, we will make the Championship more accessible to the Chicagoland community.” He adds, “This new partnership is a great opportunity for families and golf fans to take a trip over the holiday weekend and enjoy watching some great golf. We would like to thank MDOT and Amtrak for their support. We look forward to working with them on this new initiative.”

Ticket purchasers can experience Championship golf, and also the YMCA Kids Zone that features: inflatable hitting bays, bounce houses, YMCA professional staff, and much more. There will also be KitchenAid Cooking Demonstrations with some of world’s best culinary creators demonstrating great recipes in the KitchenAid Fairway Club.  Additionally, purchasers can enter-to-win in the KitchenAid Shopping Spree (see rules at SrPGA.com/scanwin).

Round-trip adult Amtrak tickets start at $33 from either Union Station in downtown Chicago or the Amtrak station in Hammond-Whiting, Indiana. Each adult can bring a child ages 2-12 for half the adult fare and all those 17 years of age and younger will receive free admission to the Championship.

The train will depart from Chicago at 7:05 am CT (transit connections and paid parking) and Hammond-Whiting at 7:30 am CT (free parking), to arrive at Harbor Shores at 10:23 am ET. The departure time from Harbor Shores is 7:16 pm ET, arriving at Hammond-Whiting at 8:08 pm CT and Chicago at 8:41 pm CT. A limited number of Amtrak tickets are available for travel on May 26 only.
