Honor Credit Union Adds Two Seasoned Biz Development Officers

A couple of veteran financial industry execs are saddling up to join the Honor Credit Union team as new Business Development Officers for the institution.

Honor officials are excited to announce Brenda Ockerman and Alba McKay as new Business Development Officers on the team. They both bring years of experience in the financial industry to their new positions and, as commercial lenders, are looking forward to expanding Honor’s business relationships. The growth of the Business Development team also includes the promotion of Patrick Swem to Business Services Sales Manager.

Ockerman previously served as Business Relationship Manager for PNC Bank in the Chicago and Wisconsin markets. In her new role, she will be responsible for commercial and investment real estate mortgages along with capital investment loans. She received a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from Ashford University. Originally from Lawton, Ockerman currently resides in South Haven and is returning to the financial industry after staying home to raise her four children for the past two years.  She is looking forward to building business relationships in Kalamazoo and Van Buren counties.

McKay is coming to Honor with 15 years of experience in the banking industry, including her most recent position as the Chief Operations Officer for Post Community Credit Union. In her new role, she will be responsible for commercial and investment real estate mortgages along with capital investment loans in the Battle Creek and Coldwater markets. McKay holds a degree in Human Resources and she currently resides in Battle Creek/Richland and says she is, “Excited to continue to serve our community, now with greater opportunity with Honor.”

Swem has been with Honor since 2010, and previously served as Business Development Officer before his promotion to Business Services Sales Manager. In his new role, he will be responsible for overseeing commercial lending and building Honor’s commercial presence in the communities it serves. Swem resides in his hometown of Buchanan, with his wife and daughter. He also serves as a board member for the Buchanan Area Chamber of Commerce.
