Local Agency Wins International Recognition With 1st Place Award

It’s awesome enough to bring home the hardware to a small independent agency by taking first place honors in international competition, but when you accomplish that feat after going up against major global household brand names — well, that’s pretty special indeed.

Such is the case for local marketing and advertising agency King Media, which has won first place in the PR News Agency Elite Awards in the category of Digital/Social Media.

King Media bested four other finalists, all of whom are located in major metropolitan areas and represent national and global clients. But, it’s not uncommon for the crew at King Media, as is evident when you learn that this is the agency’s fifth national award in two years, reflecting the agency’s commitment to growth and innovation. It also comes on the heels of King Media’s one-year anniversary of their Southwest Michigan office.

The honor recognizes the award-winning work King Media performed for Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant. In 2016, King Media planned and executed a multi-channel campaign to help Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant earn a coveted spot in the USA Today 10Best American Winery Restaurant competition. Competing with wineries in California, Washington and other highly populated areas of the country, King Media successfully used social media to reach vast numbers of loyal brand enthusiasts. At the end of the three week public voting period, Tabor Hill Winery & Restaurant had climbed from 16th place to 4th place, earning Top 10 honors. King Media was recognized alongside major global brands like Bank of America, Dell and Revlon at the PR News Agency Elite Awards Luncheon in New York City last week (on September 14, 2017). Jerry Ascierto is Executive Editor of PR News. He says, “The Agency Elite Awards are more than just our way of honoring the year’s top teams and individual campaigns—taken together, they also celebrate the vision, ingenuity and passion of a rapidly evolving profession.” He adds, “Given the overwhelming quality and quantity of submissions, our judges had an extremely difficult task this year.”

President and Founder Coleen King accepted the award on behalf of the agency. She says, “Clients often call King Media small but mighty. I think we’re mighty because we’re small.” She adds, “Our tight-knit team develops outstanding results for our clients, and we’re so grateful for this recognition at the national level.”
