Martin’s to Convert Certain Food Product Barcodes into Fundraising Cash

With school funding issues always in parent’s and teacher’s minds, the crew at Martin’s Super Markets will be amping up their plans to help in the world of fundraising, and all you have to do is save the barcodes from certain of your food labels and turn them in.

Martin’s Super Markets, with three stores in Berrien County and many others in NW Indiana, has announced a new initiative aimed at assisting schools and non-profit organizations in their fundraising efforts. The program, Direct Your Labels, allows supporters to earn cash credits by collecting qualifying Our Family/Spartan brand product UPC barcodes from products available at Martin’s Super Markets.

For every 500 qualifying barcodes collected, schools will receive a check for $25. There is no limit to the amount of credits an organization can earn.

To qualify to receive funding, an organization need only fill out a registration card and send it to SpartanNash. Registration forms are available at the customer service desk of any Martin’s Super Market or online at www.martins-supermarkets.com. Any organization needs only to register once.

Barb Levan serves as Community Affairs Supervisor for the Martin’s Super Market chain. She says, “We’re continually looking at ways we can help our customers enhance educational and charitable efforts in their communities.” She adds, “A program like Direct Your Labels is easy to sign up for and easy for parents, educators, students and other groups to conduct, and the reward is cash, which can be used for many different needs, depending on the school or group. We’re excited to add this fundraising program to our current list of other active programs to assist our community.”

Martin’s Super Markets was founded in 1947 and currently has 21 stores in South Bend, Mishawaka, Granger, Elkhart, Goshen, Plymouth, Nappanee, Logansport and Warsaw, Indiana, and Niles, Stevensville and St. Joseph, Michigan. The company also operates 17 in-store pharmacies, a pharmacy at Saint Joseph Health System in Mishawaka, a Martin’s Express convenience store in South Bend and a Side Door Café at Elkhart General Hospital.
