For most businesses or organizations, the purchase and dispatch of Christmas cards is considered an expense. While there’s clearly a measure of goodwill involved in sending greetings to customers, vendors and other clientele, most chief financial officers likely see it as little more than a cost of doing business with a spirit of camaraderie attached.

Then you have the change agents at Kinexus. The Benton Harbor-based organization with tentacles into Berrien, Cass and Van Buren Counties this week dispatched a small, 4″ by 5 1/2″ two sided post-card style holiday card to its mailing list that goes far beyond the simple message of good cheer. In fewer than 65 words, Kinexus shares some astounding statistics regarding the impact of the work that they perform, in a tastefully done card with a message.

Using the framework of “Memorable Moments of 2016,” Kinexus drives home a powerful testimony to their achievements in the past year. The card delivers four key statistics to sum up their core workload:

  • 3,050 positions were filled for 620 local employers…
  • Those positions resulted in $97-million in wage impact…
  • They trained 422 people in industries that grow the local economy…
  • They served 1,605 at-risk youth in 27 cities and 46 programs in Michigan.

The card offers “Best wishes for economic prosperity in the New Year,” on a field of star-capped Christmas trees with light snowflakes falling.

This is not the first time that the community and economic development agency has used a holiday card to show the impact they have. In 2013, they used a similar approach with a slightly more complex infographic-style of card. The approach is a smart way to carry not only the goodwill of the holiday season, but to also share key data with stakeholders and others who like to see measurable results.

The Kinexus mission is to be change agents who create solutions for workforce, business, and community challenges to promote economic vitality in the Southwest Michigan region. Headed up by CEO Todd Gustafson, the organization is clearly having an impact in the region on an every day basis. Learn more online by clicking the link below:
