Bill Swisher’s 30 year love affair with the Lake Michigan shoreline will serve him well for the rest of his life, but for now, that love affair is being transferred to the new owners of the South Cliff Inn who bring an incredible level of experience to the bed and breakfast world beginning, now.

Established in 1987, South Cliff Inn is an award-winning bed & breakfast that overlooks Lake Michigan and provides a haven to “the Riveria of the Midwest,” St. Joseph, Michigan. For 30 years, Bill Swisher has proudly owned the first bed & breakfast near downtown and has had the pleasure to host an array of long-time visitors.  The inn is known for its breathtaking views of Lake Michigan, its English Country charm, homemade, gourmet breakfasts and world-class hospitality.

Swisher says, “It has been a pleasure to build a beautiful experience for guests to my home state and I am honored we have been a preferred location for three decades.” He adds, “We are grateful to pass the inn to a couple who clearly has a vision to continue what we started and even add some new twists.”

Wilfredo and Brandy Jaquez took ownership of the inn earlier this week on November 27, 2017.  Wilfredo’s past experience as a butler and adults-only resort manager in the Dominican Republic at five-star all-inclusive resorts is sure to bring an added touch of top-notch hospitality. Brandy was raised in Southwest Michigan and has a love for travel and exploring her home state.  Together it is their dream to provide the ultimate experience with a tropical flair.

As Brandy says, “We immediately fell in love with the inn and believe we can create a relaxing oasis for guests along with some Caribbean flair without the airfare.”

The inn is situated on the cliffs of Lake Michigan with a view sprawling over Silver beach and the lighthouse all the way south.  The perennial gardens offer a nice place to relax and the large decks offer a perfect spot to take in the colorful sunsets.  There are 7 guest rooms with private baths and fireplaces, all in the historic home.  The bed & breakfast is in a prime location to take in all Southwest Michigan has to offer.  It is a mere mile from downtown St. Joseph, a few blocks from Lions Park beach and a brief drive to some of Southwest Michigan’s most famous wineries.

Wilfred says, “My service background allows me to bring in the small and big details while hosting guests from around the world,” adding, “All while taking in views that are amazing and often remind me of my home country.  I have been teased for calling Lake Michigan an ocean as a matter of fact.”

The first change the couple will make is they will be open year-round.  After they get settled in and do some updates, you can expect a reopening in mid-January.  They are taking reservations now for a winter getaway.  Bookings can happen at www.southcliffinnsj.com.  You can also follow their journey at South Cliff Inn on Facebook and Instagram.
