Pipestone Plaza Upgrade

While there's no immediate indication that new retailers are on the way, the potential attraction for new business is certainly gaining momentum at the Pipestone Plaza in Benton Charter Township, thanks to a major new facelift.

Pipestone Plaza is the commercial/retail shopping center strip at Pipestone and I-94 in the township anchored by Big Lots and Burlington Coat Factory.  The center is owned and operated by Phillips Edison & Company of Cincinnati.  They are a fully integrated real estate company with in-house leasing, property management, accounting, acquisitions, development and financing teams.  Collectively their portfolio of shopping centers across the country comprises more than 29-million square feet, spread over 280 properties from coast to coast.  Their Pipestone Plaza sports more than 176,150 square feet of retail space of which just under 31,000 square feet is currently available for lease in 6 separate parcels ranging from 1,600 square feet to the 15,689 square feet immediately adjacent to Big Lots.

Property Manager Brad Wick referred me to corporate marketing personnel when I queried about the facelift and whether it includes any new tenants arriving on the scene.  They have yet to return my calls.

The center is also home to Citi Trends, Unique Beauty, Super Buffet, and JB Sports.  The center's holdings also include the "outparcels" occupied by Applebee's, Party City, and Cravings Bistro & Pub.

Construction crews are putting the finishing touches on a bright new facade running the full length of the strip center which is fronted by more than 900 parking spaces for customers of businesses up and down the block.  Most of the work has been completed with the last remaining pieces falling into place from Citi Trends to the southwest end of the center.  A new header extension over the doorway of the available parcel next to Big Lots is also being erected at that end of the strip.

If the marketing team has any additional news to offer when they get back to me, I will update the story to tell you more.
