Don't Whine...Do Wine!

With the holiday season racing full tilt ahead, and lots of dinner parties, cocktail events, and even just your own home entertaining on the horizon, Ruth Ryberg wants to help you wend your way through the ever-increasing options available to all of us.  I detailed Ruth's story some time back in Moody on the Market, but would like to reacquaint you with her expertise just in time to put it to work for you.

Ruth is an expert Certified Sommelier and Certified Specialist of Wine.  She owns and operates Don't Whine Do Wine, a consulting firm dedicated to the mission of educating Southwest Michigan's Wine Community.  She's been working diligently at that through a series of wine classes, wine events, server trainings and hospitality consultations.

According to a survey by Los Angeles-based Impulse Research Corporation, 80% of people want to learn more about wine.  The survey also notes that, "although we still believe that the best way to learn about wine is to drink, being led by an expert can really increase your enjoyment."

So Ruth, who has been partnering locally with Cravings Bistro & Pub in Benton Harbor since last April to offer wine education through Tuesday Tastings conducted bi-monthly, has lined up three important opportunities for you that are all holiday themed.  The wine tasting events are $20 per person and will include five 2-oz samples along with the detailed instruction on what to look for and why, depending on your tastes.  Here is the schedule for these great opportunities:

  • Tuesday, November 5th: Perfect Pairings for a Traditional Thanksgiving Meal.
  • Tuesday, November 19th:  A Variety of Dessert Wines
  • Tuesday, December 3rd: Festive Bubbly for your Celebrations

Wines offered will be available for tasting any time between 5pm and 7pm on those dates and bottles can be purchased right there at Cravings Bistro & Pub.  Cravings is located at 1559 Mall Drive in Benton Harbor on the periphery of the Pipestone Plaza Shopping Center.

Ruth's classes are a great way to plan your holiday celebrations with confidence, knowing that your wines will pair perfectly with your festive foods of the season.
