Another Major Cover for Kate Upton

Golf fans are getting their turn with St. Joe covergirl Kate Upton, and local golf fans are hoping with her new found affinity for the game they might get a glimpse of her at Harbor Shores during the upcoming 2014 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid.  The homegrown supermodel has scored yet another major magazine cover in the form of the December 2013 issue of Golf Digest.  On the cover she and golf legend Arnold Palmer strike a stylized version of the classic American Gothic portrait of old.  Instead of a pitch fork, Palmer holds a wooden bunker grooming rake in the colorful cover.

The two struck up a friendship when she attended his Bayhill Invitational PGA Tournament in a "date" arranged by Upton's manager Lisa Benson, whose father used to play with Palmer at Latrobe Country Club in Pennsylvania.  Kate, who was born in St. Joseph where the family home is just yards away from the West Basin Marina here, grew up in Melbourne, Florida, a stone's throw from Orlando and Bay Hill.  Her mom & dad have been long time fans of Arnie.  The two super-stars thoroughly enjoyed their time together talking about Palmer's work with children's hospitals.

Golf Digest picked up on the pairing and created an opportunity to get them together in a promotional video teaching lessons, and the rest is becoming marketing history.

Kate, whose Uncle Fred is the 6th District Congressman representing the region, has been on a major league roll with three Sports Illustrated covers (including two coveted swimsuit editions), appearances on the cover of Vanity Fair, Vogue, Elle, GQ and others making her more of a household name than her politically connected uncle.
