Amtrak Adds Post Thanksgiving Train

Holiday travelers will have an extra bonus option on Amtrak's Pere Marquette train passing through St. Joseph on the Sunday after Thanksgiving.  My friend John Langdon, who is the Governmental & Public Affairs Coordinator for the Michigan Association of Railroad Passengers based in Holland has alerted me to the extra train run being added for that day only.

The Amtrak booking service shows that in addition to Pere Marquette Train #371 which leaves the St. Joe station bound for Chicago at 8:04am on that Sunday morning...a second run, Train #373 will leave the platform below the bluff at 4:28pm that afternoon only.

For family members and friends returning to St. Joseph from Chicago that day, Pere Marquette Train #370 arriving at 9:13pm Sunday night will be joined by Train #372 arriving at 12:43pm that afternoon as an alternative option.

The additional frequency is, at this point, a one time only experiment for Sunday, December 1, 2013.

This may well mark the first time that Amtrak has ever offered a second frequency on any given day in the more than 25 year history of the Pere Marquette passenger rail service connecting Grand Rapids and Chicago by way of Holland, Bangor and St. Joseph.
