Ag Community Joins Shop Small Saturday

In the grand scheme of things you can't get any more local than when you shop with local farms and orchards.  With that message in mind, the crew at Big Head Farm of Benton Harbor proudly throws its support behind the Shop Small initiative taking place on Shop Local Saturday this coming weekend.

Nora Anderson from Big Head Farm at 3835 Pier Road in Benton Harbor tells me that they will be hosting a Community Holiday Bazaar at Curves of St. Joseph from 11am until 3pm this Saturday, November 30th.  Curves of St. Joseph is located at 2907 Division Street in Southtown St. Joseph.

Big Head Farm is a certified fruit & vegetable farm with two farm stand locations servicing local and traveling patrons throughout the summer and fall harvest seasons.  They fully recognize the importance of engaging with customers on a personal level, and believe that shoppers should know where the items they buy are produced.

Saturday's event at Curves of St. Joseph will feature delicious farm products from Big Head Farm as well as products from talented local artisans who do not have a store front but want to participate in the holiday cheer.  Nora says they hope to, "Inspire Southwest Michigan shoppers not only to shop with us on the 30th, but to get out and support the many wonderful local businesses in the community."

On the docket for Saturday you will find:
  • Big Head Farm with Chestnuts, Honey, Maple Syrup, Coffee, and Cookbooks written locally
  • Sakred Stones featuring hand-crafted jewelry by Lola Yost of Benton Harbor
  • A Honu Tie Dye featuring hand tie-dyed apparel and linens for infants, kids, and adults.
  • Additional participants may be added to the list as the day draws near

If you have questions for Nora, you can reach her at 269-605-9260.

Please give strong consideration to remembering our agricultural community on Shop Local Saturday...and every day!
