Holiday Music Extravaganza

If you haven't quite gotten into the holiday spirit yet, line up some tickets for this Saturday, December 14, 2013, as the Southwest Michigan Symphony Ochestra teams up with the Citadel Symphony Chorus to bring you Jingle Bells Forever, their spectacular holiday concert at Lake Michigan College. Showtime is 7:30pm on the Mendel Center Mainstage at LMC and you'll be hard-pressed to remain a Scrooge when the music sweeps over you like Santa on his final approach to a house full of kids.

Lush symphonic arrangements of Christmas classics, fresh versions of your favorite Christmas Carols, holiday favorites and many a melodic surprise all await you in the 1500-seat auditorium. Share the spirit of the season with your entire family, as you enjoy enchanting performances by both the orchestra and the chorus.

Robin Fountain, Music Director for the Symphony is the Conductor and he tells us, "It's an annual treat for us to present a concert filled with the holiday spirit.  This year we have the added pleasure of performing with the Citadel Symphony Chorus.  It will be a lovely evening!"

Early arrivers can enjoy a Pre-Concert Conversation with Fountain beginning at 6:30pm in the North Training Room at the Mendel Center. Conversations such as that provide an insight into the music and music-makers and are open to both the media and all ticket holders.

The Citadel Symphony Chorus is a partnership between the SMSO and Citadel Dance & Music Center in the Benton Harbor Arts District aimed at establishing an exciting choral venture and bringing unique opportunities for participation and engagement into the lives of the many talented singers in the region.  They will serve as the primary chorus for the SMSO.

This concert will also serve as an opportunity for Edgewater Gifts of St. Joseph to premiere a special exhibit highlighting the area's largest selection of nautical gifts, lighthouse photographs by local photographer Mike Hershberger, "Life is Good" clothing, and the area's largest selection of sterling silver jewelry.  Patrons will have the opportunity to purchase items.

Following the performance of Jingle Bells Forever, a post-concert reception in the lobby will be hosted by Edgewater Bank.  There you can mingle with friends, orchestra members and Music Director Robin Fountain.  It'll be the perfect night cap to an evening of beautiful music.

Tickets for the evening are available at the Symphony office downtown St. Joseph or at
