The Return of Naschair

Unsuspecting visitors to downtown St. Joseph often stumble onto delightful surprises in the form of things like chalked masterpieces on the pavement, massive ice sculptures on street corners, amazing public art projects of all sorts, bed races in the heat of summer, and now the return of the on-again/off-again Naschair Challenge!

Now under the guidance of the Women's Service League as a fundraiser to benefit the Therapeutic Equestrian Center (TEC), the incredibly quirky office-chair race down Lake Boulevard is gearing up for another chase to the finish next month.

Slated for Friday, May23rd from 3pm until 6pm, the Naschair Challenge is currently in recruiting mode. Racing teams in all age groups from high school on up are eligible to enter the race to bring their best set of wheels to try to beat all others on race day.

Dentists chairs, doctors chairs, restaurant chairs, office chairs...if its "in your office" and you can get wheels on it, you could be cruising to Naschair glory come race day.

All tax-deductible proceeds from entry fees and sponsorship rights will benefit TEC's programs to help children and adults with special needs gain access to the therapeutic delight of horseback riding.

Team registrations are being taken by the Women's Service League right now and continuing through May 9th in preparation for race day. Everybody is invited to line the race course to cheer on their favorite competitors for an afternoon of chair racing at the 4th Naschair Challenge on Lake Boulevard on May 23rd.

You can also sign up your teams at the Official Naschair Kick Off Party on Wednesday night, April 30th at Players Bar & Grill in downtown St. Joseph. The restaurant will donate 20-percent of the nights sales back to TEC and feature food and drink specials as well.
