Live the American Dream

If you've discovered that you'd be better at owning your own business rather than working for somebody else, there's an app for that. At least there's an app-lication for it! Bob Jones and his crew at the Michigan Small Business Development Center housed at Kinexus of Benton Harbor are offering you the chance to jumpstart your desire to open your own business in an upcoming workshop.

Coming Tuesday, May 13th in Benton Harbor and again on Wednesday, June 18th in South Haven, Mr. Jones is bringing his Want to Open Your Own Business? workshop to local entrepreneurs.

In this three-hour workshop, you will learn the fundamentals of starting and owning a small business in Michigan along with how to write a comprehensive business plan and prepare financial statements. Business Plans are important to help you set goals, determine the resources necessary, and foresee potential problems.

This course will discuss each section of a business plan, including the executive summary, business description, marketing, operations, management, sales, financials, and start-up capital.

Chef Adam Graham was a recent attendee and he says, "This class provided extensive and functional tools and support to help me to understand the realities of starting a small business."

You can register to attend for just $35 for the workshop at Michigan Works! at 499 W. Main Street in Benton Harbor on Tuesday, May 13th from 6pm until 9pm, or Wednesday, June 18th, at the South Haven Campus of Lake Michigan College at 125 Veterans Boulevard in South Haven from 6pm until 9pm.
