Saugatuck Arts Marketer Wins Emmy Award for Her Work

One of the hardest fought battles in the 39th Annual Emmy Awards for Michigan television productions this year was in the category “Commercial — Single Spot.” There were more nominations in that category than in almost any other on the docket. That’s what makes the win this weekend for Angela Peavey and the Saugatuck Center for the Arts all the more rewarding.

Angela is Sales & Marketing Manager for the dynamic Saugatuck Center for the Arts, and her production for the center, located at 400 Culver Street in Saugatuck, was declared the Emmy winner Saturday by the National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences, Michigan Chapter. The award ceremonies were held last night, Saturday, June 10th, 2017, at the MotorCity Sound Board Theater at the MotorCity Casino & Hotel in Detroit.

Angela told Facebook friends in the aftermath of the victory that she rocketed from her seat, saying, “As soon as the announcer said ‘and the Emmy goes too Saug…’ I literally jumped out of my seat.” Certainly an understandable reaction from any member of the powerhouse team that assembles an amazing array of performances and events year round at the center in the resort community which is, in itself, a multi-time award winning community along the Kalamazoo River at the Lake Michigan waterfront.

Peavey is no stranger to the winner’s circle. As a strategic, multidisciplinary marketing & public relations professional with an eye for innovation, she was named one of Michigan’s Top Ten Filmmakers by Michigan’s Film Digital Media Office, and as the only woman on that list, she regularly mentors young women on how to break into the business.

She has  worked with a gamut of clients and although her skill set is vast, her greatest expertise revolves in the worlds of film & video, SEO/SEM, social media, brand identity, content marketing, strategy, and media relations.

Peavey is a graduate of Aquinas College with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater and obtained a Master of Science in Communication from Grand Valley State University. Recently Peavey was accepted into Harvard Business School’s Corporate Communications professional development program focusing on digital and social media.

Peavey has frequently been called on to speak on her areas of expertise, and has appeared on or in the Fox Morning Show, ABC News, The New York Times, WebProNews, Wired, PBS, Lifetime, HBO, and numerous other news programs, publications, and distribution in connection with her work.

Angela has been with the Saugatuck Center for the arts for three and a half years now, and for most of that same time she has served as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Communications at Grand Valley State University in Grand Rapids.

Congratulations to Angela Peavey and all of her colleagues at the Saugatuck Center for the Arts, now entering its red hot summer theater season. Learn more online by clicking this link: http://www.sc4a.org
