Seeking Input for a Better Retail District

What do you feel would make the commercial district around The Orchards Mall in Benton Harbor a better place to work, shop and play? The Southwest Michigan Planning Commission wants your input and hopes you will share your thoughts and ideas on the evening of February 8th from 6pm until 8pm at The Orchards Mall.

Marcy Hamilton, Senior Planner for the SWM Planning Commission, is heading up an ongoing group called the Ox Creek Watershed Management Planning initiative, and the Pipestone Retail District Community Forum will be a critical part of the development planning by that group.

Hamilton says, “Exciting developments are in the works for the commercial district around The Orchards Mall, and we need input on how to make it a better place to work, shop and play.” Hamilton adds, “We’re interested in how we can revitalize the Pipestone retail district and make it more environmentally friendly and more attractive to locals and visitors alike.”

The Southwest Michigan Planning Commission is inviting not only the Ox Creek Watershed Management Planning panel, but the general public-at-large. Everyone is welcome, and Hamilton is encouraging use of Entrance #4 by Carson’s, and the meeting will take place in the former Deb store at the Mall. The Orchards Mall is located at 1800 Pipestone Road in Benton Harbor. Refreshments will be provided to participants.
