Swinging for the Fences for Alex Mandarino at North Pier’s 415AM Season Opener

Everybody loves a homerun and the crew at North Pier Brewing Company is hopeful they can score not only a homerun but perhaps a grand slam all in the name of Alex Mandarino this Saturday. Everybody who attends “Opening Day of Season Two” at the popular Benton Harbor brewery will help hit the ball out of the park.

On Saturday beginning at 3pm, North Pier Brewing Company will welcome their guests as if they’re walking into a big league ballpark.  Beer programs will be handed out.  A North Pier marquee will be displayed off the left field patio.  And there will be bleacher seats for the casual beer fans looking for some space to stretch their legs.

All of this is being done to celebrate Opening Day (Season Two) of North Pier’s baseball seasonal beer, 415AM.

While the “AM” can stand for “All Michigan” hops, 415AM more importantly stands for “Alex Mandarino” with the “415” symbolizing his date of birth. Sadly, in 2013, 5-year-old Alex passed away after a 3-year battle with Neuroblastoma, a rare form of childhood cancer. This Saturday, North Pier will be donating $1 from every 415AM pint sold to The Alex Mandarino Foundation, an organization that fights against Neuroblastoma and other pediatric cancers.

But North Pier has added a slugger to their line-up this season.  They’ll be releasing limited edition 415AM cans to coincide with the event. Similar to their $1 pint donation, they will be donating $1 per 4-pack sold.

North Pier owner Jay Fettig says, “We sold over 500 pints of our 415AM beer last year on its Opening Day, a record that still stands today and one we hope to break on Saturday.” He adds, “This event is important to us because it’s benefiting The Alex Mandarino Foundation, a very important cause. We encourage people to come out, have a good time, and help raise awareness for childhood cancer.”

A 415AM Facebook event page has been set up and you can click the link below to see that:

This baseball-themed event is also welcoming golf fans too. The 2018 KitchenAid Senior PGA Championship will be bringing their distinguished trophy, “Alfred,” to North Pier on Saturday and you can purchase tickets onsite to the Championship taking place May 22-27, 2018.  50-percent of the ticket sales generated at the 415AM event will be donated back to The Alex Mandarino Foundation.

Saturday’s affair is a kid-friendly event and is open to the public, and 415AM will be served beginning at 3pm. Ballpark food, such as hotdogs and nachos, will be sold and 415AM beer glasses and t-shirts will be for sale as well (in limited supply). Baseball attire is encouraged.

St. Joseph-based RC Photography will host a baseball themed photo-booth and Mark Ficks Music will provide musical entertainment.
