The King of Audio Visual Technology in SWM Soars Past Three Decades

You might not know Ken Kuespert personally, but if you live anywhere in Michigan’s Great Southwest and have ever ventured out of your house chances are excellent that you have come into contact with his handiwork and probably never knew it. Ken Kuespert is the veritable King of Audio Visual Technology in Southwest Michigan.

When Ken launched his new little audio/visual technology company more than 30 years ago he knew he wanted to set a torrid pace and do great things for organizations and individuals all over the region, but even he might not have envisioned his TPC Technologies firm 32 years later at the top of its game with more than $1.5-million dollars worth of gear available for rent on a moment’s notice for events of every size imaginable, and a cast of a dozen.

Kuespert, whose business is headquartered in Niles, and has two high school daughters still attending the St. Joseph Public School system, fired up his fledgling firm in 1985 pretty much flying solo with one helper in the early days. Now, his crew is comprised of 12 full time staff members who operate out of one office and two warehouses and continues to grow exponentially with world-class, cutting-edge technology available for anyone who presses his team into action. That team of 12 brings more than 100 years of combined experience to the sound board and video switcher every day.

In addition to setting up full-scale mobile sound and video operations for events of every type, Ken’s major business is the design of first-class sound, lighting and video systems for conference rooms and halls, classrooms, sanctuaries, auditoriums and beyond.

You can, and will, find his unique handiwork in designs with Fortune 500 corporations like Whirlpool, in major event venues like the Lake Michigan College Mendel Mainstage, at the family of Four Winds Casinos from the Potawatomi Indian tribe, at the Shadowland Pavilion and the Inn at Harbor Shores, among others.

Ken tells me that they’ve just concluded their first year of a three year contract as key AV supplier for the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center, providing all of their Sound, Lighting and Video Services there. TPC offers a full range of equipment to suit your needs ranging from a few wireless microphones to a fully integrated multimedia system.

When you and I look at the daunting technology available at Ken’s fingertips and those of his crew, we become easily overwhelmed, whereas it has become commonplace for Mr. Kuespert to post Facebook photos of gear like you see above with the caption, “My office and view for the day.” TPC Technologies features more than $1.5-million in AV equipment available for rent with everything from wireless mics to portable sound systems, from lighting and projectors to large screens, mobile production studios and more.

The team at TPC routinely provides production services including audio/visual content for corporate meetings, concerts, event services and even decorative lighting all the way up to the scope and scale of his Yuletide presentations in several communities including his creations of the Lights on Bell Road in Niles and the Light Up the Bluff elements in St. Joseph.

Even the most sophisticated events are possible thanks to TPC Technologies multi-camera HD Video truck for live events, concert IMAG and live-streaming of corporate meetings.

It’s not all about the business for Ken either, as this marks his fourth year of service to the Board of Directors at the Berrien County Youth Fair and as a mentor for the St. Joseph High School robotics team — The Average Joes.

Ken and his wife Pam have been married for 19 years and they have two daughters, Abby who begins her Junior year at St. Joseph High School this fall, (and is an active member of the Average Joes Robotics team) and Emily who enters the 8th grade at Upton Junior High this fall, an avid competitor in horseback riding events.

As President & CEO of TPC Technologies, Inc, Ken says he has actually lost track of how many local school corporations, businesses and churches are using his installed technology virtually every day. If your business, organization, or event needs the resources of top notch AV technology, you can reach out to Ken Kuespert at his office by dialing 269-687-9798 at any time.
