Helen Fasano’s dedication to her avocation is impeccable. She has never wavered from her insistence on excellence in every regard for her business enterprise and she will continue that tradition in her new home for The Petz Carlton. When you’re borrowing the essence of your name from an enterprise known worldwide for perfection in the realm of hospitality, you want to replicate attention to detail at every turn.

Ms. Fasano has relocated her beloved Petz Carlton and her ancillary Bark Angels therapy dog program to a very familiar facility for dog lovers across the region. The new home of The Petz Carlton is 1281 E. Napier Avenue in Benton Harbor, directly across from the Napier entrance to The Orchards Mall.

Helen tells me she made the decision to relocate this “final” time because she will launch overnight boarding in November at the former site of Dr. Steve Hadaway’s veterinarian facility due also to the flex factor that allows her to lease the space for now, but to buy the property at any time in the future. She hints that the good doctor may actually stop by every so often in the new year to update shots for clients who would like that service. There are other innovations in the pipeline, but for now, Helen is focused on settling in and acclimating to the new venue.

The Petz Carlton will still remain significantly different from other animal day care facilities and kennels around the region, inasmuch as all dog owners who seek services will be required to undergo two days of Doggie Day Care for an evaluation to see if they will be the perfect fit for an overnight stay. She is exceedingly cautious in assuring that all dogs will get along with one another on site and there is zero tolerance for aggressive behavior.

Fasano readily admits that her standards remain. The Petz Carlton is not simply open to boarding just any animal. She says, “The unknown is just not fair to my staff or all the other dogs staying her, so all animals will be ‘vetted,’ if you will.”

Staff will be onsite at The Petz Carlton 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, and not animals will ever be left alone in the building, another key differentiator from some other facilities in the area. As Helen says, “I feel this has to be done the right way and the respectful way to our clients and their dogs, allowing everyone to enjoy complete peace of mind that we are doing everything possible to create the best experience every time.”

The newly relocated Petz Carlton, which comes from a space along Hawthorne Avenue in St. Joseph, will continue to offer Doggie Day Care, individual training, training classes, and will continue to grow The Bark Angels Therapy Dogs program through training and certification. Plus, there’s a beautiful new outdoor play yard as well.

Helen says, “We are excited to be in our new home and are looking forward to creating a safe and fun facility to enjoy.”

The newly relocated Petz Carlton is located at 1281 E. Napier Avenue and can be reached by phone at 269-934-7389.
