4th of July Fireworks Details for St. Joe

With the 4th of July barely a week away, authorities in St. Joseph are hopeful of making things as smooth as possible for residents and visitors alike to enjoy the fireworks as safely and smoothly as possible. Deputy Director Steve Neubecker of the St. Joseph Department of Public Safety issued a statement this morning that sums up what the city would like you to know.  Here is what he has for you:

The St. Joseph “4th of July Fireworks” will be held on Monday July 4th.  
 
Motorists, please remember that there will be limited parking below the bluff and restricted parking in the downtown residential area. Temporary no parking signs will be posted in the affected residential areas to assist with the flow of traffic and pedestrian safety.
 
Residential streets above the bluff; West and east of Main Street, will be posted no parking on the south and east sides. All alleys will be posted no parking.
 
Residential streets below the bluff; Market, Pearl, 1st, 2nd and 3rd Streets east of Lions Park Drive will be posted no parking on the north side.  West of Lions Park Drive, 2nd Street will be posted no parking and 3rd Street will be posted no parking on the south side. .
 
All parking restrictions will be strictly enforced.
 
Following the fireworks, traffic north of the river will be detoured North on M-63 and East on Klock Rd. When detoured on Klock Rd, please do not travel to Main St in Benton Harbor back to Main St. downtown St. Joseph. The southbound traffic lanes on M-63 at Klock Rd. will be closed for a short period of time to allow traffic to clear in downtown St. Joseph. Motorists are asked to find an alternate route avoiding downtown St. Joseph due to the heavy traffic congestion following the fireworks.
 
Traffic south of the river will be directed onto Main St. from Port St., Ship St. and Broad St. Traffic from Silver Beach and Lions Park area using Park St. will be directed south on Lake Blvd. to Lakeshore Dr. 
 
Blossomland & BiCentennial Bridges will remain closed from 10:00PM to 1:00AM.
 
Motorists are asked to be patient and expect long delays.

The St. Joseph 4th of July Fireworks are purchased by the city and WSJM News/Talk 94.9 with underwriting support from LeValley, Chevrolet, Buick GMC, Whirlpool Corporation, Harbor Shores, Boelcke Heating & Air Conditioning, Luke Brown-Vicki Holt-and-Nicole Coar of LPL Financial, Signature Automotive Group and Pro Muffler & Brake Shop. This marks the 26th anniversary of the joint agreement with St. Joseph and Mid-West Family Broadcasting to launch the community fireworks display from the South Pier in St. Joe.
