8th Annual Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Day is Wednesday

Jill Adams has a very busy week ahead…but she’s got a lot of help from all sorts of volunteers willing to make her 8th Annual Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Day at midweek into a roaring success once again.
Adams is Environmental Property Manager for Berrien County, and as such she runs the county’s highly involved recycling program which will feature another huge event on Wednesday afternoon from 3pm until 7pm at the Lake Michigan College Napier Avenue Campus parking lot. The highly successful event each year converts the college’s huge parking lot into a veritable drive-through recycling drop-off center for an amazing array of goods that you should avail yourself of.
On Wednesday, April 12, from 3pm to 7pm, the Berrien County Parks Department is partnering with Lake Michigan College to bring the 8th annual Reduce, Reuse, Recycle Day event to the residents of Berrien County.
Here is a list of the accepted items at this big event:

This event is open to Berrien County residents only, and no business waste is allowed at this event.

Books and shoes will be recycled to Goodwill, bikes will be shared with Cycle-ReCycle of Benton Harbor, eyeglasses will be shared with local Lions Clubs for reuse, and plastic grocery bags will be recycled by Martin’s Super Markets.

There is a recycling fee of $10 per computer monitor and $20 per television set (including all types).  All other items are accepted at no cost.  However, donations will be gratefully accepted to offset the costs to stage the event.  Payment must be made by cash or check, made out to County of Berrien, at the event.

Participants will enter the LMC campus at the Napier Ave entrance and follow the event signs.  The event will be set up in the parking lot in front, or south, of the Mendel Center.  See a full list of accepted items at www.berriencounty.org/recycle.  Or, you can call Jill Adams, event co-coordinator at 983-7111 ext. 8234 with questions.
