An Array of Mendel Center Events for the Holiday Season

If you are looking to be entertained this holiday season, you need look no further than the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center.  A variety of holiday-themed events—many of them musical—are scheduled in December.  Most require an admission charge but some are free!

Here are some highlights:

Cirque Musica Holiday Wonderland

Saturday, Dec. 7, 7:30 p.m.

Jenkins Theatre

Blending the grace and power of some of the world’s greatest circus performers with fantastic live music, Cirque Musica Holiday Wonderland will take you on a journey to a faraway land of dazzling beauty, mystery, and thrills.

You will be treated to a full sensory holiday experience that will keep you on the edge of your seat!

Part of the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center Discovery Series. Funded in part by the Gast Young People’s Performance Endowment.

Grand Upton Hall

Free admission; donations to support the event are appreciated

The complete lineup of Lake Michigan College instrumental and vocal ensembles will come together in song, accompanied by dramatic readings during this festive celebration.

Among the planned musical pieces are “Joy to the World,” the much-loved Vince Guaraldi Trio standard “Christmas Time is Here,” “Carol of the Bells,” the popular Hebrew Hanukkah song “S’Vivon,” “Jingle Bells,” and more.

Citadel Santa

THE CITADEL DANCE & MUSIC CENTER

The Citadel Spectacular

Friday, Dec. 13, 6 p.m.

Saturday, Dec. 14, 11 a.m. & 6 p.m.

Jenkins Theatre

This family-friendly production features a glistening collection of holiday tunes and high-energy dancing choreographed by Lari Lawrence-Gist and performed by more than 40 students and faculty members. It is hosted by Santa, played by Andrew Fisher, who invites the audience to catch a last-minute glimpse of the North Pole on Christmas Eve. The 90-minute production features some of our favorite holiday characters, high-kicking and fast-footed dancing, and music that will take you back to all your best holiday memories.

Holiday Concert

SOUTHSHORE CONCERT BAND

Sunday, Dec. 15, 2 p.m.

Jenkins Theatre

It’s an afternoon of Christmas music traditions from the Southshore Concert Band. Join them in the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center Jenkins Theatre for many of your favorite Christmas melodies.

Admission is free and donations are appreciated.
