The Beckwith Theatre Company invites the community to an intimate evening of storytelling on Thursday, November 20th at 7:00 PM. Following last month’s successful storytelling workshop, local storytellers will take the stage alongside veteran performers to share their true life stories in a live performance that promises to inspire, entertain, and connect.
The evening will feature a diverse lineup of storytellers, including participants from October’s workshop who have crafted and honed their personal narratives, as well as experienced storytellers who have been sharing their truths with audiences for years.
Each story will offer a unique window into the human experience: moments of triumph, vulnerability, humor, and revelation that remind us of our shared humanity.
The performance is the culmination of last month’s free workshop, where participants learned to identify story worthy moments from their lives and transform them into compelling narratives.
Under the guidance of storytellers Jennifer Jasper and Phil Thornton, workshop attendees discovered their distinctive voices and developed the skills to share their truths with authenticity and impact.
Jennifer Jasper, a performer, director, playwright, and consummate storyteller, brings her experience from co-producing a popular monthly storytelling event in Seattle. “Through stories, we learn from people we know, people we thought we knew, and people we might never meet otherwise,” she notes. “We may start as strangers, but by the end of the story, we are closer. And that is the ultimate point.” Now calling Dowagiac home, Jasper is excited to help cultivate a vibrant storytelling community in Southwest Michigan.
