We’ve all experienced that sinking feeling in the gut when you open up a menu and either can’t find anything recognizable to order, or are just too wary of paying a premium price for something we’ve never actually tried before and the uncertainty shoots down the adventure. Fortunately, there are occasionally events like the upcoming International Food Fair at Andrews University to help us sample new cuisines to discover what could become our next foodie passion.

The 2017 annual International Food Fair will take place on Sunday, April 9, from 12 noon until 7 pm in the Johnson Gym on the campus of Andrews University. The Food Fair will represent over 80 countries and nearly two dozen ethnic clubs. Participating clubs include the Korean Club, Peruvian Club, Brazilian Club, Indian Club and Haitian Club, among many others.

The cost to try the food is minimal. If you go, you can purchase tickets at the door to be redeemed for food at each individual booth. Cash transactions, however, will not be accepted at the booths. All ticket sales will go to the respective clubs. Some of the clubs use their earnings for scholarship funds to assist students and others use the funds for mission projects throughout the year.

In years past, the event has been very successful with thousands of people in attendance, coming from as far as Chicago and Grand Rapids. It’s a great opportunity to showcase the cultural diversity at Andrews University and to experience food and culture from around the world.
