Sometimes the difference between success and something less than success can be a small stipend that boosts an organization dramatically. There is renewed hope for a dozen individuals and organizations today thanks to the announcement of new mini-grants from the Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs. Three of those mini-grants are headed to Berrien County and a fourth is headed to the community of Bloomingdale.

The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo this morning announced the 2020 Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs minigrant awards. Twenty-three applications were submitted, requesting $33,200 in funds. Twelve applicants were selected to receive funding totaling $28,000. Round II Region 8 funding will be available for projects only. The application deadline for Round II funding is January 15, 2020.

The Michigan Council for Arts and Cultural Affairs coordinates grants to arts and culture organizations, cities and municipalities, and other nonprofit organizations to encourage, develop and facilitate an enriched environment of artistic, creative and cultural activity in Michigan.

The Arts Council of Greater Kalamazoo serves as the regional re-grantor for the funding of such mini-grants and professional development funds. The Regional Re-granting Program funds local organizations with project mini-grants of up to $4,000 and professional development grants of up to $1,500.
