Atty Jennifer Fields: Like Father, Like Daughter

Every accomplished father's dream is to see a child follow in his footsteps, emulate his career, and enjoy the successes he has enjoyed or…better yet…surpass those accomplishments and soar to new heights. Assuming retired Berrien County Judge John Fields shares such a dream, he is undoubtedly riding tall in the saddle as he watches his daughter, Jennifer, open her own law practice in the city of St. Joseph.

Attorney Jennifer E. Fields has established her new law firm in Suite 110 at 800 Ship Street in St. Joseph in space she is leasing from Attorney Daniel Grow, where she clerked this spring before establishing her own firm after being sworn in to practice at the end of last month.

Jennifer is a lifelong resident of Berrien County who graduated from St. Joseph High School before heading off to Western Michigan University for undergraduate work majoring in political science. She then moved on to the Thomas M. Cooley Law School where she graduated at the end of January. She sat for the Michigan bar exam at the end of February and was sworn in at the end of May.

Jennifer's father, Judge John Fields, retired from the bench in 2003 and now she is, essentially, following his his footsteps. During Law School, she was selected to be on the National Mock Trial Team, competing against other law schools across the nation at competitions held in Cleveland, Ohio and Buffalo, New York.

In 2014 she was a Prosecuting Attorneys Association of Michigan summer intern at the Berrien County Prosecutor's Office, and last fall she did an externship with the Benton Harbor Law Office of Burch & Banyon.

In the past, she worked at the Benton Harbor-St. Joseph YMCA for nearly 10-years working in the youth development department and ran the Glad-a-wenta Summer Day Camp program.

In her new practice, Jennifer knows that those who are charged with a crime can find the experience to be frightening, but vows to vigorously protect and defend one's rights for the best possible outcome. The Law Firm of Jennifer E. Fields will specialize in criminal case matters including (but not limited to) the following areas:
