Benton Harbor Student Athlete Commits to Central Michigan University

On Wednesday November 17th, Desrae Kyles made her commitment and signed with Central Michigan University. Desrae is a 6 ‘5, 17 year old senior who attends Benton Harbor High School. Thought Desrae’s High School career, she has played center for the Lady Tigers and has been able to put up great numbers that has allowed her to be scouted heavily by D1 collegiate basketball programs.

After Desrae Kyles made her decision to attend Central Michigan University she said “Today I was extremely nervous and I couldn’t sit still for nothing. It’s all exciting and new to me, today went by quickly.”

When asked why she chose Central Michigan she said, “I thought about if I wanted to go far or stay close. So I looked at how I would be played and what I would like best. I also wanted to go somewhere that would make me feel at home.”

Head Coach for the Varsity Benton Harbor Girls Basketball team, Kenneth Jackson said “Desrae is a phenomenal player and she still has a high ceiling because there are a lot of things  she can do that we have not been able to show in certain games yet. But I’m gonna let her loose this year. I have full expectations on her being in the running for Miss Basketball with everything she can do on the court.”

Desrae Kyle’s mother, Carleasia Viverette said: “I am just really happy and proud of my daughter, she has made me very, very proud. I’m thankful and just overwhelmed!”

To keep up with the Lady Tigers view their game schedule at Bentonharbortigers.com, the first game of the season will be played December 2, 2022 at 7:00 pm against the Berrien Springs Shamrocks at Don Farnum Gymnasium. Located in Benton Harbor high school at 870 Colfax Ave, Benton Harbor, MI.
