A pair of Brandywine students have been named to the highest royalty at the local fair.

Laila Roman and Daniel McKee, both of of Niles, were selected as queen and kind Friday during the Berrien County Youth Fair royalty contest ahead of this week’s fair. Tyler Miller, of Buchanan, and Abby Lomoro, of Benton Harbor, were named runner up to the king and queen positions.

The new royalty will have a busy week serving as public relations representatives of the fair, handing out ribbons and trophies, and attending ceremonies and concerts throughout the week, in addition to showing their exhibits.

Roman, 17, is a senior at Brandywine and has plans to attend Western Michigan University and pursue a degree in education with a minor in music. She will be entering various exhibits in the flower building this year.
