BH Rotarian Hearts & Hands Help Enrich Local Lives

You’ve seen them racing beds down the boulevard in St. Joe…you’ve watched their great pumpkin races over the years, and now the Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotary Club will take some of the hard-earned dollars gathered up in various fundraising efforts throughout the year to continue their mission to improve and enrich the lives of the children of the Benton Harbor Community.

The popular, and busy, club has pledged once again to put their Rotarian hearts and hands to work during their November 22nd weekly meeting next week. Working in partnership with Countryside Academy, members will pack a complete Thanksgiving dinner, including a plump turkey, to fill bushel baskets donated by Monte Packaging for 16 area families.

The bounty-filled holiday baskets will include table runners sewn by an anonymous donor as a special touch to the families’ holiday décor and be delivered next Wednesday morning to Countryside Academy for distribution to families identified by the school, in time to prepare a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

Prior to the sorting of food and the stuffing of the baskets, Sunrise Rotarians will have fun testing wits against one another in their traditional Thanksgiving Trivia competition.

The Benton Harbor Sunrise Rotary Club meetings take place on Wednesday mornings at 7:00am in The Elks Lodge located at 601 Riverview in Benton Harbor. If you are interested in more information regarding the Rotary, attending a meeting as a guest, or becoming involved as a donor or member, you are encouraged to visit their website at  www.bhsunriserotary.org.
