Buchanan Winery Offering Unique Wine Education Program This Summer

A couple of years ago, somebody suggested that Adam McBride should check out both the Napa Valley Wine Academy and the Wine & Spirits Education Trust. That was likely a moment he will never forget and now he’s hoping to recreate that moment and pay it forward to others with the type of interest in wine that landed him in the role of both winemaker and winery owner.

McBride is owner, operator and winemaker at Hickory Creek Winery on Browntown Road in Buchanan and this summer he will partner with the Napa Valley Wine Academy and the Wine & Spirits Education Trust to offer their Level One Foundation Course on Saturday, June 9th from 10am until 5:30pm right at the winery, anchored at 750 Browntown Road in Buchanan.

There will only be 20 spots available for the unique, hands-on course, wherein students explore the main types and styles of wine through sight, smell and taste.

By the end of the course, participants will be able to use a systematic approach to wine tasting. In addition to learning about the main styles of wine, students will also learn the basics of food and wine pairing. The course includes tastings, a gourmet lunch and all exam fees. Successful students will receive a WSET certificate and lapel pin.

Adam McBride says, “Someone steered me in the direction of the Level 1 program a couple years back and it changed my life.” Indeed it has…as he took ownership of the Hickory Creek Winery just last fall. He is now also a graduate of WSET levels 1, 2 and 3.
