Market Van Buren and Cass County have formalized a relationship to help bring economic development to the area. Market Van Buren tells us the full story:
On October 29, 2021, regional economic development efforts got a significant boost as the Cass County Board of Commissioners have inked a two-year agreement with Market Van Buren. Market Van Buren, an affiliate of Kinexus Group, has been working with Van Buren County and Van Buren communities for the last several years as a nonprofit economic development organization. The agreement with Cass County calls for wide ranging activities for retention of existing businesses, attracting new businesses, and building an ecosystem for growth in Cass County.
“We are excited about this formalized relationship and what it will bring to our community,” said Jeff Carmen, Administrator, Cass County. “This couldn’t have come at a better time to support our small businesses, prepare industrial sites for incoming employers, and support the overall development of the county.” “Market Van Buren has proven to be a great partner with the assistance it provided to Cass County businesses during the pandemic,” he added.
During the pandemic, Market Van Buren helped Cass & Van Buren companies land over $500k in small business grants and loans. In addition, Market Van Buren officials made sure information flowed to Cass County businesses at critical points.
“This is not only a win for Cass County but for Van Buren County as well. This will strengthen the relationship between the two and make the region stronger through shared resources, strengthening business to business opportunities, awareness of what the communities and business offer across the region, and much more,” said Tom Stanek, Board Chair of Market Van Buren.
“Although we have already been working in partnership with Cass County for a variety of economic development projects, we’re pleased to formalize our relationship with Cass County” said Zach Morris, Executive Director of Market Van Buren. “We look forward to supporting the county in its endeavors to strengthen the local economy and community businesses in their pursuit of continued growth.”
