Chamber Sets Annual Award Line-Up

The newly streamlined business awards program from the Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce and their colleagues at Cornerstone Alliance is now less than a month away, and local businesses and organizations are lining up their tickets for the 2017 Business Recognition Breakfast program which will unveil the winners of those key awards.

The event, slated for Thursday morning, February 9th at the Lake Michigan College Mendel Center's Grand Upton Hall, will get underway with doors opening at 7am for networking and breakfast, followed by the event kick-off at 8am. The center is located at 2755 E. Napier Avenue in Benton Harbor and individual seats are on sale now for just $25 with a table of 10 available at the discounted price of $200. Cornerstone Chamber President Chris Heugel says that the annual meeting is a joint session of both his unit and the Cornerstone Alliance team headed up by President Rob Cleveland as they salute the accomplishments and impact that Berrien County businesses and individuals have made over the course of the past year.
 
The Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce will debut its new awards at this year's event. Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce members nominated fellow business leaders in the following categories:
 

  • Young Business Leader of the Year Award
  • Small Business Award
  • Excellence in Customer Service Award
  • Green Business of the Year Award
  • Economic Impact Award
  • Ambassador of the Year
  • The Pat Moody Award

 
The winners of each of those awards will be announced at the event on February 9, 2017.
 
Heugel says, "The Cornerstone Chamber of Commerce is excited to showcase our members at The Business Recognition Breakfast."  He adds, "This event is about collaboration with our partner, Cornerstone Alliance while celebrating our exceptional member businesses; recognizing achievements of those who have had outstanding growth, service and community contributions." Heugel says the Chamber was proud to have received over 60 nominations for local area businesses and offers, "Congratulations to all of our nominees in this year's new categories."
 
Cornerstone Alliance, the county's lead economic development organization, will present their awards to Berrien County businesses. Cornerstone Alliance President, Rob Cleveland says, "Whenever there is an opportunity to recognize local businesses for all they do to strengthen the economic vibrancy in Berrien County, it's a win. The world-class innovation that is happening in our backyard is phenomenal. We are grateful these companies are here in Michigan's Great Southwest."
