Charity Robbed in Golf Course Break In

It's bad enough that thieves elected to help themselves to money that clearly wasn't their own when they broke into the club house at the Jeptha Lake Golf Course in Bloomingdale Township early yesterday. The sad reality is that the money they stole was hard-earned charity money slated for a local benefit outing scheduled to start just hours later.

Van Buren County Sheriff Dale Gribler is asking for the public's help in tracking down the burglars who broke into the club house at 20557 47th Street in Bloomingdale sometime between 2am and 8:30am Saturday morning. The break in was discovered by employees arriving to set up the benefit outing only to find that nearly $475-dollars had been stolen.

Jeptha Lake Golf Course is a 9-hole public course complete with a practice facility, a full service bar and restaurant, and a fully-stocked pro shop, located northeast of Bangor in Van Buren County.

Van Buren County Sheriff's Deputy Cody Anderson and his colleague, Crime Technician Rich Rennhack have processed the crime scene and are working with the public in an attempt to determine a suspect or suspects in the case.
