Decatur Day Festival August 1

The Village of Decatur is gearing up for its biggest event of the summer.

The village’s Shantel Pentland tells us the Decatur Day Festival is set for August 1, an all-day event offering all kinds of fun for all ages.

We do an amazing car show,” Pentland said. “We have live music all day, 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. We have four musical acts coming, and then Green Dance Academy also offers a live performance. Help Music Program emcees the event for us. We do a large cornhole tournament. We have free contest activities and events all day for all ages.”

They’ll also have games for the kids, bounce houses, chainsaw carving, a petting farm, a book sale, and a beer tent and accompanying social district. Pentland says the village wants everyone to stop by.

It’s hard to find free family fun in our area.  There are some other events local, so we try not to compete with any of them.  That’s why we’re always shooting for that first weekend of August.”

Pentland says the Decatur Day Festival was a summer staple in the community for years until it went on hiatus. They brought it back about five years ago, and last year about 4,000 people attended. Decatur Day will be August 1 from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. in beautiful downtown Decatur.
