Disaster Preparedness Workshop for Business Coming Soon

Just one hour of lost time in the face of a disaster can result in a loss of as much as $8,000 for even a small company. For a mid-sized business that leaps to $74,000. Yes…for a single hour of lost time amid disaster. Perhaps that’s why up to 40-percent of small businesses don’t survive when a natural disaster strikes them hard.

Fortunately for local businesses and organizations, ServPro is teaming up with the Federal Alliance for Safe Homes (FLASH) and the Berrien County Office of Emergency Management to present a free workshop on handling critical power outages and severe weather in the region.

On Wednesday, June 28th from 9am until 4pm those folks will offer up a Berrien County Ready Business Preparedness Workshop at Kinexus of Benton Harbor.

Berrien County Businesses, Organizations, and Preparedness Partners:

The Workshop will provide an overview of the Ready Business Power Outage Toolkit and the Ready Business Severe Wind/Tornado Toolkit. Participants will be able to review and implement business continuity planning and mitigation project plans through the simple, step-by-step planning tools in the power outage and severe weather toolkits provided by FLASH.

If you’re wondering why a workshop like this is important consider the fact that the average cost per power outage for an organization is $690,204? Organizations, large and small, are at risk – as are their employees, customers, and the communities they serve.

The good news is that the actions to protect your organization, employees, and customers are simple, scalable, and many are affordable to implement. These actions will also help you to recover more quickly should disaster strike at your business or organization.

To assist you, the Workshop will:

  • Review easy actions you can take before, during, and after disasters;
  • Provide experts to explain power outage and severe weather risks specific to Berrien County;
  • Explain the level of support you can expect from your local emergency management agency if a large-scale disaster occurs; and
  • Provide simple materials and helpful links to additional resources.

Regardless of your experience level in preparing for disasters, this free workshop is designed for everyone. Click the link below to register or learn more about this great offer for business throughout the region:
