Edgewater Resources Founder Named to National Engineering Agency Board

The founder of St. Joseph-based Edgewater Resources has been added to a national board of professional engineers as a public trustee.

Greg Weykamp, Founder, President and Principal at Edgewater Resources, has been named a Public Trustee at the Academy of Coastal, Ocean, Port and Navigation Engineers — or simply ACOPNE — a national board-certifying agency. ACOPNE is an entity of the American Society of Civil Engineers that grants board certification for qualified engineers who have specialized knowledge and experience in the fields of coastal, port, ocean and navigation engineering and meet the board’s requirements.

As Public Trustee, Weykamp will be a voting member on the ACOPNE Board and will represent the general interests of the public. His extensive experience and expertise in public planning and design of waterfront projects led to his appointment to that role.

Weykamp is an award-winning landscape architect with over twenty-seven years of experience in the planning and design of the public realm, with an emphasis on sustainable built landscapes and urban waterfront environments. His project experience spans the likes of:

  • Waterfront parks
  • Marinas
  • Master planned communities
  • Urban revitalization
  • Streetscapes
  • Parks and recreation facilities
  • Medical and university campuses
  • Military installations

Weykamp’s body of work includes internationally significant projects including:

  • Centennial Olympic Park in Atlanta
  • The Olympic Village for the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney, Australia
  • Gateway and 31st Street Harbors in Chicago
  • Redevelopment of Denver’s Stapleton Airport

As a waterfront expert, he is regularly called on to advise and work with local, state and federal government agencies on shoreline, coastal and marina issues.

Weykamp is Founder, President and Principal of waterfront planning, design and engineering firm, Edgewater Resources, an award-winning waterfront design and engineering firm, headquartered in St. Joseph, with additional office locations in Fort Lauderdale, Florida and Madison, Wisconsin.
