Five Sunset Coast Robotics Alliance Teams Headed to St. Louis

The engineering prowess being exhibited by high school students from throughout Michigan’s Great Southwest continues to expand year after year. The meteoric rise in teams entered into FIRST Robotics Competition has been huge, and coming off of last weekend’s Michigan State Championships an unprecedented five teams from the Sunset Coast Robotics Alliance will head next to the World Championship competition in St. Louis later this month.

FIRST Judge Advisor Tim Dunaj from St. Joseph reports that following the Michigan State Championships held over the Easter weekend at Saginaw Valley State University, five teams will travel to St. Louis from the local alliance including:

  • Team 3620 — The Average Joes from St. Joseph for the fourth consecutive year…
  • Team 3452 — The GreengineerZ from Berrien Springs for the third consecutive year…
  • Team 4237 — Team Lance-A-Bot from Lakeshore for the first time…
  • Team 5462 — Paw Paw Robotics for the first time…
  • Team 4325 — Cassopolis RoboRangers for the first time.

Following statewide competition this weekend the following teams each won Judged Awards:

  • The Judges Award was given to Team 5069 — the Edwardsburg “Iron Giants”
  • The Imagery Award was given to Team 4325 — the Cassopolis RoboRangers
  • The UL Safety Award was given to Team 4237 — Team Lance-A-Bot
  • The Quality Award was given to Team 5462 — Paw Paw Robotics
  • The Excellence in Engineering Award was given to Team 3620 — The Average Joes

The World Championships are slated to take place at St. Louis Union State, Americas Center and the Edward Jones Dome, from Wednesday, April 26th through Saturday, April 29th. Best of luck to all local members of the Sunset Coast Robotics Alliance in the worldwide competition later this month.
