Fleet Week at Scooter Joe's

Even as Mother Nature elected to convert the latest round of high school proms into something more akin to Winterfest with the unseasonably cool weather lingering across the region, there is hope for summer's arrival one day, and one of the harbingers of that hope comes in the upcoming launch of year seven for the growing enterprise known simply as Scooter Joe's.

Joe tells me that they are ready for "fleet week," when they dispatch their veritable fleet of summer fun vehicles to outposts across the region to capitalize on the visiting crowd headed to the 2016 Senior PGA Championship presented by KitchenAid.  Scooter Joe's downtown location at Broad Street & Lake Boulevard will be open in time for the Championship.

From Joe's newest location at The Inn at Harbor Shores they offer convenient shuttle service up river for a beautiful and leisurely two-hour paddle down the Paw Paw River back to the launch location at the end of west side parking area behind the hotel; or paddlers can launch right from there in the inner harbor if desired.  Tandem kayaks and canoes are also available.

Joe says he also offers a fleet of hybrid electric bikes for fun. A standard 7-speed bike normally, but with the simple flip of a switch you get assistance from a smooth, quiet electric motor for help on hills or to start peddling. Joe considers the hybrid electric bikes to be great for transient boaters arriving to the area in local marinas, as well. He tells me that his motorized inflatable center console dinghy is being prepped  for the season, too.

New at Joe's famous world headquarters downtown, visitors and locals alike will see a brand new fleet of beach cruiser bikes with all aluminum frames for a lighter, easier peddle around town and “cruising” the beaches. Plus, they have added a few fat tire bikes, which, at 4-inches wide, prove to be comfortable rides that are great for handling rougher, unpaved terrain and make a great bike for the Harbor Shores trail system, visiting beaches and more.

Naturally, Joe's fleet of popular Surrey bikes will be ready to go as well, including his "stretch limo" seating up to 11 people, both adults and kids aboard one of the longest surrey bikes you'll ever see.

In his never-ending work to keep visitors moving freely around the area while visiting, Joe's got some exciting news for area visitors & hotel guests at Holiday Inn Express in St. Joe, Candlewood Suites in Stevensville, and The Inn at Harbor Shores.  Scooter Joe’s has a fleet of beach cruiser bikes at the front entrance of each of those partner hotels, and they’ve set things up for guests to conveniently charge their hourly, daily or hotel stay bike rental right to their room. Just check with the front desk for details to get out for some fresh air, starting right from your hotel.
