Former Cosmo Extended Stay Property In Sodus Township Sold

The site of the former Cosmo Extended Living Hotel on M-139 near I-94 in Sodus Township has been sold. That’s where a fire killed six people three years ago. Sodus Township Supervisor Dave Chandler tells us after a long process that faced many delays, 7-Eleven has finally completed its purchase of the roughly 11 acre property. It will build a Speedway gas station and convenience store there. Chandler says the sale was delayed for years due to insurance and legal issues. He learned it was at last finished on Wednesday. The plan is for 7 Eleven to work with Berrien County to remove asbestos from the building before it’s torn down this year. Construction on the Speedway is slated for 2023. Chandler says the project has had many ups and downs, and he “can take a deep breath of air now.”
